The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics A leading research journal in the field of pharmacology, JPET provides broad coverage of all aspects of the interactions of chemicals with biological systems, including autonomic, behavioral, cardiovascular, cellular, clinical, developmental, gastrointestinal, immuno-, neuro-, pulmonary, and renal pharmacology, as well as analgesics, drug abuse, metabolism and disposition, chemotherapy, and toxicology. Molecular Pharmacology Monthly issues present original applications of biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, and molecular biology juxtaposed with innovative pharmacologic research to elucidate basic problems in pharmacology and toxicology, including areas such as molecular mechanisms involved in drug receptor-effector coupling, xenobiotic metabolism, and antibiotic and anticancer drug action. PR&P is a bi-monthly open access journal that publishes a range of article types, including: target validation (preclinical papers that show a hypothesis is incorrect or papers on drugs that have failed in early clinical development); drug discovery reviews (strategy, hypotheses, and data resulting in a successful therapeutic drug); frontiers in translational medicine (drug and target validation for an unmet therapeutic need); pharmacological hypotheses (reviews that are oriented to inform a novel hypothesis); and replication studies (work that refutes key findings [failed replication] and work that validates key findings). PR&P publishes papers submitted directly to the journal and those referred from the journals of ASPET and the BPS.
